My little Pekins won`t lay until next year now. These ones above are quite old! I only had 1 egg today as it`s getting colder here as well. Not quite as cold as where you are though I don`t think.

Steve said it was 1 degree last night though, so the frosts will start soon.... brrrrr

I don't think ours are going to lay until next year now. It's pretty damn cold up here now. I went out to shut them in their ark last night, and reckon it was almost freezing.

Glad to hear that the database did it's job :)

Hopefully we can improve on it next time and make it easier to use - you never know how well something will work until it's been used in a real situation.

I loved reading this :D It reminded me of the love/hate relationship between Garfield and Odie! Simpson (Garfield) and Odie (any one of the chickens!) and the Ginger cat being a threat to the secret friendship they have! lol :D

Fantastic post :) I am wondering if Simpson's going to lose the battle with the ginger cat eventually though - it's much bigger than him, and obviously younger.

Great blog post Wendy! I have only just had the chance to read it :D

Aren`t they funny!? All have such strange little ways. We have lots of leghorns at the moment that Graham has let out to wander about and bask in the sun on the drive. I just know I`ll run one over one day then I`ll be in trouble :( The problem is there are so many of them that their droppinga get everywhere and I`m always checking my sheos and telling the girls to before we step into the house! :(

My little bantams now fly up to greet me when I open the arc. Probably just "cupboard love"! :D

Btw all of our red mottled leghorns don`t have a comb yet either and all the rest have. I asked Graham whether they should have grown and he said that they were still quite young. I found it odd though, because there is nothing there at all with some of them?
